SAUDI ARABIAN NATIONAL GUARD

To support the DWDM Network stability which is the backbone infrastructure for all Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) networks Kingdome wide carrying the service demands for all networks.

The Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) was looking forward for a solution which will ensure network stability and to overcome the disrupts in Nationwide Fiber in a timely manner without affecting the running services Kingdome wide.

OBJECTIVES

  • Deployment of Fiber Network Management system (FNMS) Optical Test Units (OTUs) in 15 DWDM (service Centers and Repeater sites) to identify the fiber break as it occurs.
  • Setting up Hexagon Geographic information system (GIS) application and integrating it with FNMS to allocate the fiber break geographically to precise location to reduce the time for allocating the fault.
  • Data location systems to allocate the fiber cables underground through ground penetrating radars (GPR).
  • To convert all available data for network from CAD, KMZ and Excel sheets into GIS application.
  • To provide backup solution for the network data repository.
  • To establish a development environment to stage the overall cable management solution.

CHALLENGES

CHALLENGES SOLUTIONS

Techbology :

  • To implement a design which integrates all vendor data into one application

  • Missing data from client side.
  • The solution included several vendors with different functionalities to integrate together. The key goal was achieved to integrate the different functionalities into one platform.

  • Due to lack of information for the overall fiber network several meetings were conducted with client to fill in the missing gaps.

implementation :

  • Onsite installation
  • Separate teams were established to work in parallel in separate regions to overcome the geographical challenges and project time constraint.

VENDORS INVOLVED

  • Cisco
  • Hexagon Intergraph
  • Viavi solutions
  • Leica Geo Systems
  • Veeam Backup solutions
  • Microsoft
